But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. Luke 8:15
In these turbulent days where we are seeing so much upheaval around us both politically and economically, I was deeply encouraged to receive these two links – one through my local church, which I attend with my mother and the other from the retiring minister of my Clan church.
The first is a book written by Tommy MacNeil, a Church of Scotland minister in Stornoway. The book is entitled ‘Sleeping Giant – a Call to the Church to Awake and Arise!’ I haven’t read the book but will attend a meeting he is leading in Perth as part of a Scottish Tour on 9th November.
I first met Russell Moffat when I attended the Clan MacLaren annual gathering service at Balquhidder Church in 2017 and have witnessed community transformation through him mobilising his congregation and believe that his final reflection before he retires is relevant to us all. Our light does truly need to shine in the darkness of these days. Watch short video clip here.
This short article on Prayer and Our Role as Mobilizers from Geoff Gunton is a reminder to us all to continue praying.
We praise God that our prayers are being answered and that seeds that were planted so long ago are being activated. We continue to pray for a continuing awakening of our Sleeping Giant.
Lord, we cry out to you in these turbulent days to have mercy on our nation. We pray that frenzy and fear will be broken and ask for great wisdom for all politicians both nationally and locally.
We also pray that all our churches, both indigenous and diaspora will be the people of Hope, Generosity and Trust and that you would equip and envision each congregation to send out workers into His harvest as commanded in Luke 10:2.
