Standing in the Gap

Standing in the Gap

Then he said, ‘Oh do not let the Lord be angry if I speak just once more. Suppose ten are found there.’ He answered, ‘For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.’  Genesis 18:32

Abraham has been pleading and crying out for Sodom in this reading and makes his last attempt.  By standing in the gap in an extremely dangerous situation and pleading with God, Abraham’s nephew Lot and most of his family survived.

Many organisations have struggled over the past two years with Brexit and Covid.  This year promised to see us coming out the other side, then Russia invaded Ukraine and all our plans and forecasts had to be redrawn.  We are now facing much uncertainty and it has become extremely challenging to prepare meaningful plans and forecasts.  Inflation, energy costs, etc are now affecting organisations who were relatively unscathed or even prospered during 2021 and 2022.

Losing my own business, some years ago, through Insolvency was one of the hardest things I have ever had to walk through.  I felt very lonely and isolated but God pulled me through and brought me to a place of empathy and understanding for others facing similar situations.

It is my belief that by standing in the gap for Simply Mobilising UK as Abraham did for Sodom, will help us to be more responsive to God’s ways and help the NCT to be encouraged and know that they are not alone.

Answering God’s call to pray gives us the opportunity to serve others, demonstrate solidarity, and channel God’s love.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for bringing us through these past two years and guide us as we pray for the situation we are currently experiencing.  May we see with your eyes and find ways to bless Simply Mobilising UK with our hands.
